Everything You Wanted To Know
Week of April 30, 2018

A Note From Our Principal:
Happy May Day! This week brings many events to our campus:
May Crowning: Today at 2:15, our students will head to the church to honor Mary, Mother of Jesus, with a crowning ceremony. Thank you for all the beautiful flowers brought to the school this morning and to our volunteer crew that made the flower arrangements.
Fame Jr. Musical: Like the plot of the musical itself, our 5th through 8th grade theatre students have put lots of sweat and hard work into the production for this evening and tomorrow, both at 6:30pm in our gym. Special thanks to Mr. Vecchione for helping bring out the talents of our students and for his commitment to our theatre arts program. Break a leg!
Corrado Family Center: Our contractor, TEAM Construction, is in the process of moving into their on-campus work site, which will be in the part of the rectory area that will not be demolished. We anticipate physical demolition to begin in the next couple weeks and will send updated communication regarding safety on campus as the construction continues.

Next Friday the 11th is our Jogathon and Talent Show. Once again we have partnered with PledgeStar to support our online pledges. To access online pledges, please go to to create your student(s) webpage and input potential donor’s email addresses. The PledgeStar portal makes tracking pledges easier as it emails you when you receive a pledge so you can add it to your pledge packet and the donor also receives an emailed receipt of their tax-deductible contribution to our Jogathon. Thanks for your participation in this SJF fundraiser.

SJF JOGATHON 2018 – MAY 11, 2018

2018 SJF Jogathon – Keep Fundraising through PledgeStar!
By now, your kids have already raised funds toward our $40,000 goal – and we have far more to go in less than 2 weeks! Please get those online PledgeStar requests out by email, text or social media post! If we reach our school goal, ALL STUDENTS earn an awesome lunch catered by Raul’s Mexican Restaurant. That’s just an average $188 per student!

Congratulations to the 2nd Grade Class for kick-starting the race! They sent the highest number of online PledgeStar requests in the first 2 weeks– winning a Popcorn & Movie Party!

Remember earns an over 60% success rate versus paper pledges – it’s a convenient way to invite neighbors, friends and family wherever they live including international. And parents, use PledgeStar to also sign up for the 100 meter dash for just $25.

Friday, May 11 from 8:45-10 am is the day and time at Jesuit High School track– followed by the school-wide Talent Show at 1 pm. We are on – rain or shine – so plan appropriate clothing and wear comfortable running shoes!

Please remember to follow our Social Media Guidelines to safeguard and protect our student body. Now until after the Jogathon wraps up, please do NOT post the date, time, location or photos on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram until we return to the school. We have drone aerial photography and parent/student photographers to capture the day and will share on the SJF Facebook page Safety and privacy are the first and foremost priority particularly when events are held off-site.

Huge thanks to our $1000+ Master sponsors – Adidas, Grove Development and Fred Shearer & Sons – plus Chanel Shavers Re/Max Equity Group and Ashley Donkin/Equity Mortgage for arming every student with a water bottle. $200+ Tent Innovation sponsors include AJC Consulting, Craig Miller Law, Jay’s Wide Shoes, Northwest Women’s Clinic, and Perlo Construction, Thanks also to our $100+ Prize Sponsors: Oregon Eye Specialists and Pacific Residential Mortgage.

Please sign up for your May 2018 extended care coverage. The May calendar is attached and will be on the Extended Care page of SchoolSpeak.

Last week we completed school phone system upgrades. With our additional lines, we were able to add an extended care phone extension versus them having their own phone line! Therefore, if you need to reach our extended care program, please call the main school number at (503) 246-3234 and extended care is at extension 35. The old mobile number for the program will be disconnected at the end of this month.

Once again we will team up with our local parishes and have our Vacation Bible School with our friends from St. Pius X, St. Cecilia, St. Juan Diego and Holy Trinity. Vacation Bible School will run from June 25-28 from 9am – 12:15 pm at St. Pius X. You can register at and the deadline for registration is June 11th. For questions and/or to volunteer, please contact Kristin at Additional information is available on the attached flyer.
