Everything You Wanted To Know
Week of May 14, 2018

A Note From Our Principal:
Last Friday’s Jogathon and Talent Show were such a testament to the community spirit at SJF. Special thanks go out to our Jogathon chairs, Carey Hunt and Erin McClaskey, and their crew of hard workers who helped this event “run” so seamlessly from start to the finish line. Please return your pledge packet to the school office by 3pm this Friday, May 18th, to be eligible for prizes.

We had an unprecedented level of community and business support with 23 generous sponsors. Thanks to our:

Water Bottle Sponsors: Chanel Shavers/ReMax & Ashley Donkin/Equity Mortgage
Tent Sponsors: AJC, Jays Wide Shoes, Miller Law, Northwest Women’s Clinic, Perlo Construction
Prize Sponsors: Jimmy John’s, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Oregon Eye Specialists, Pacific Residential Mortgage, Papa Murphy’s, Sesame Donuts, Sunny’s Frozen Yogurt

Our awards assembly will be on Tuesday, May 29th at 2:30pm when we will reveal the final results for most laps and total money raised. Congratulations to all the students for running their hearts out and thanks for supporting our school!

Continuing on the topic of supporting great causes, yesterday marked the first day of our Mac and Cheese drive for the Sunshine division. Students are welcome to bring boxes to their classrooms and we will collect through Friday, May 25th.

As we look ahead to the next school year, today your child will receive the registration packet for 2018-19. While you are relaxing this weekend, please take a moment to complete the paperwork and return the necessary documents by Thursday, May 31st. Thanks for your timely response.

Additionally, I am happy to announce that our hiring committee has found a great fit for our PE/Health instructor! Mr. Michael Rittman will be joining us as his family will be relocating this summer to the Portland area from Seattle. Mr. Rittman has a vast amount of experience working with students in grades PreK – 8 at Saint George School since 2008: PE Teacher for PreK-8, CYO Athletic Director, Head Coach for Track and Field and taught 6th grade math. His references note his energetic teaching style, warm demeanor, emphasis on teamwork, and respect for one another as the strong qualities he will bring to St. John Fisher School. Welcome Mr. Rittman!
