A Note from the Principal:

Welcome to Holy Week! Here is a calendar of events at St. John Fisher Parish:

  • Thursday, 4/18: Holy Thursday – Mass at 7pm followed by Adoration and ending with Benediction at 9pm

  • Friday, 4/18: Good Friday: Living Stations of the Cross with our 8th graders at 2:15 pm and Liturgy at 7 pm

  • Saturday, 4/20: Easter Vigil at 9 pm

  • Sunday, 4/21: Easter! Mass at 9 am and 11 am (no 5:30 pm Sunday evening Mass)

  • Monday, 4/22: Easter Monday-No School

Playground Parents, please arrive at school by 11:25 am to sign in at the school office and pick up your clipboard and volunteer badge. You can check the playground duty schedule at any time on SchoolSpeak by clicking on the “Playground Calendar” tab. Thank you for helping to keep our students safe on the playground!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR MUSE BAND STUDENTS

Four of our MUSE band students competed in the Solo & Ensemble Festival this past weekend and received 2nd place in the category of Advanced Ensemble playing “Lion Sleeps Tonight.” Way to go Carys Perilloux, Olivia Arntson-Fettig, Brooke Sheridan and Grady Tobecksen!

 

YEARBOOK MESSAGES FOR 8TH GRADE STUDENTS

In the past our yearbooks have always ended with short messages from parents to their child(ren). This is optional, but if you would like to, please make it short (50 words or less) and sweet. Make sure to include who it’s to and who it’s from. Please submit it via email by this Friday, April 19th to spierce@sjfschool.org .

CINCO de MAYO COMMUNITY DINNER

Hola SJFers! Our Community Dinner (and 3rd fundraiser) is just around the corner, Cinco de Mayo on Sunday, May 5th! We’ll have a Mexican Food Truck with delicious food options plus carnival style games to keep our kiddos entertained. If your company is feeling flush with cash after tax season, we have a few sponsorship opportunities. Please see the attached flyer. There will be more information in next week’s SAM about how you can purchase tickets and more details!

AUCTION EASEL PARTY UPDATE

Easel Party sign ups are in the entry of the school. The boards will be up while there are still open spots. Easel Party sign ups will be billed weekly starting 4/19, if you have any questions on billing please contact Jill Habrich – jehabrich@gmail.com .

 

MEN’S CLUB MEETING on APRIL 25

Don’t forget that this month’s Men’s Club meeting was pushed back one week because of Holy Week. Please plan to join us at 7pm on April 25–dinner will be provided by guest chef Javier Acevado, who will prepare a traditional Mexican dinner.

 

ARCHBISHOP’S SEMINARY TEA

The SJF community is invited to the annual Seminary Tea on April 24. This annual event supports the education of seminarians preparing to serve in the Archdiocese of Portland. Details are on the attached flyer.

 

SJF SCHOOL NIGHT AT UP BASEBALL

Come see the Portland Pilots take on Pepperdine on Friday, May 10 at 6:00pm. Our Glee Club has been invited back to sing the National Anthem. Tickets start at just $4.00. Additional information is attached.

 

MEN’S CLUB GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Men’s Club annual golf tournament happens Friday, May 17 at the Red Tail Golf Course. See the attached flyer for details and registration information.

 

GIRL CAMP 2019

Girl Camp returns for this summer. It’s brought to us by SJF alums, Maddie and Allie Merz. Details about the camp are on the attached flyer and on SchoolSpeak under the Summer Programs 2019 tab. That’s where we post all the information we receive about summer programs and camps in SW Portland.
