Everything You Wanted To Know

Week of April 29, 2019

A Note from the Principal:

Tomorrow is the first of May so we will celebrate Mary, the Mother of Jesus, by honoring her with a May Crowning. This community-wide celebration begins at 2:15pm in the church. Students are asked to bring fresh flowers to the cafeteria on in the morning and all students may choose to have “special” free dress this day (or wear the traditional school uniform). Please see the Student/Parent Handbook (pg. 19) for specifics on the dress policy.

This Sunday is our community-wide Cinco de Mayo celebration! Festivities begin at 4pm and wrap up by 7pm. Feel free to bring the whole family to this family-friendly event that will feature food from Ochoa Lupita’s Tacos food truck, a beer and wine garden, carnival games, face painting, and piñatas! Discounted Pre-Order Dinner sales can be done via the attachment to this SAM and turned into the school office. No worries if you did not get your order in on time as we will sell dinners, drinks and carnival tickets the night off too. See you at this grand fiesta!

As you plan for the rest of the month, I know many of our 5th through 8th grade students and Mr. Vecchione are looking forward to our production of the The Lion King next Tuesday, May 7th and Wednesday, May 8th. Both shows are free to all and the production will begin in the gym promptly at 6:30pm each night.

Finally, we recognize that a majority of public schools, including Portland Public Schools, are closed on Wednesday, May 8th in response to the Oregon Department of Education “Day of Action.” However, we will NOT be following our “School Closure” policy and St. John Fisher School WILL BE OPEN Wednesday, May 8th. Thanks for your support of Catholic education!

Parents, as we get near the end of the school year we could use your help covering still-open dates for playground duty. With the weather improving every day, an extra shift or two on the playground is a great way to finish up the last of your family volunteer hours for this school year. If you’re able to help please contact Holly Dorlon at . Thank you.
