SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT MEMO
Everything You Wanted To Know
Week of January 1, 2024
A NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas holiday with family and friends and are slowly settling back into the school routine.
Now that 2024 has begun, it’s time to start thinking about the 2024-25 school year:
Current Student Registration Protocol for 2024-25 academic year: This Friday, (1/5) you will receive an email from FACTS detailing how to complete the re-enrollment process. Our re-enrollment is online via your FACTS portal.
Incoming PreK or Kindergarteners: If you have a new addition to SJF for our PreK (age 4 by 9/1/24) or Kindergarten, you will need to fill out a registration form for that child located HERE.
Reenrollment and Incoming Kindergarten or Pre-K enrollment for current families is due Friday, January 19th.
Additionally, as chilly weather comes, so does cold/flu season. A number of children and I were reminded of this very fact during morning recess today when the light rain led to a number of us without raincoats getting wet. We certainly learned the natural consequence of not being properly prepared for the elements so please help us by having your child bring a sweater/coat to school so we can all stay warm and well this winter.
Finally, please refer to our health policy in the Student/Parent Handbook regarding if/when children should be stay home from school for being ill (pg. 19-20):
St. John Fisher School follows the published Communicable Disease Guidelines from the Oregon Department of Education, the Oregon Health Authority and Multnomah Education Service District.
Students who become ill during the school day, meaning they have developed a fever of 100.4 or higher or are actively vomiting or having diarrhea, will be held in the school office, health room or in the child’s classroom based on the nature of their symptoms. Parents will be contacted by the school office to take the child home. Please do not send an ill child to school, hoping that he or she will feel better. Students who are absent, or who leave school early due to illness, will not be permitted to participate in school-sponsored activities such as rehearsal, CYO or extra curricular clubs on the day they were out sick or went home early.
If a child is not well enough to be outside during recess, please keep the child at home. Students must be fever-free with no nausea, vomit or diarrhea for 24 hours before being readmitted to class. Parents need to notify the school office by 8:15 a.m. each day should a child be absent from school due to illness.
