SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT MEMO
Everything You Want to Know
Week of March 28, 2022
FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
We are looking forward to hosting Grandparents and/or Special Friends at our school Mass later this month. In an effort to help space out attendance, we will be dividing guests via the student’s last name:
Wednesday, 4/6: Students whose last name begins with A-L are welcome to bring a Grandparent/Special Friend to our Mass
Wednesday, 4/20: Students whose last name begins with M-Z are welcome to bring a Grandparent/Special Friend to our Mass
Guests should arrive at the school between 12:40-12:55 to pick up their student and escort them to the church. To help us connect the guests to our students, please complete the following short Google Form: https://forms.gle/
Additionally, while celebrating our Grandparents and/or Special Friends next month with community Mass, we have the opportunity of adopting books for our library. You and your family and friends are invited to browse and shop our virtual Support Our School Wish List and purchase books for our library shelves. Your student’s name will be prominently displayed inside the book, honoring your donation, and they will be the first to borrow the book and take it home. More details on the attached flyer. We thank you for supporting our students’ love of reading and learning!

FAMILY VOLUNTEER HOURS UPDATE
We are now about 2/3 of the way through the school year. So far the average hours per family is about 15 hours. Given that we did not have our typical auction with all its volunteer opportunities, the PTC along with Mrs. Holub has decided that we will lower the requirement per family to 20 hours total for this year. We still have several volunteer opportunities if you have not yet met the 20 hours per family goal.
The jog-a-thon will be May 20th and we have several volunteer opportunities for this amazing event! We will need volunteers for the day of the event as well as the following positions that still need to be filled:
Co-chair 1
Co-chair 2
Underwriting/Sponsorships
Volunteer Coordinator
We are hoping to find 1-2 co-chairs to train under our amazing long standing chair, Erin McClasky. Please use the link below to sign up.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Nora Jensen ([email protected]) or Erin McClasky ([email protected])
We have several other volunteer opportunities as well: May Crowning, 8th grade luncheon, talent show, field day, 2nd grade First Communion reception just to name a few. Please reach out to your classroom parents for information on volunteering for these events.
Thank you for dedicating your time to our school! Remember that volunteering is a great way to get more involved, meet new families, and grow our community! Please reach out to Volunteer Coordinator Nora Jensen ([email protected]) if you need help finding the right fit for your volunteer opportunity.
ON-SITE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
The trophy case in the main entrance hallway needs some attention. If you can help with rearranging the trophies, and dusting the shelves (on your schedule) please contact Mrs. Wasman.
MENS CLUB EASTER EGG HUNT
Our SJF Men’s Club is organizing an Easter Egg Hunt for families on Sunday, April 10th at 10am (between the 9am and 11am Mass). They will have coffee, donuts, relay races and fun for the whole family! Hunts will be organized into 4 categories: Pre-K and younger, K-2nd graders, 3rd - 5th graders and 6th - 8th graders. Cost is $5 per person - not to exceed $20 per family. See you there!
CYO TRACK & FIELD VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
CYO Track & Field season begins this Saturday, April 2 and we need volunteers to help at the meets.
Each school is asked to provide volunteers for each meet. These meets cannot happen without volunteers. Please look at the attached chart and email JB Gibbs ([email protected]) if you are able to help in any of those time slots. Hours worked at the meet count as volunteer hours for SJF and you do not need to have an athlete involved in track in order to volunteer.
Thank you in advance- Go Cardinals!

HOT LUNCH REMINDERS
When you order hot lunch for your student, the salad bar is INCLUDED. The Salad Bar Only (No Entrée) option is for students who only want to get food off the salad bar and not the entrée provided.
PLEASE double check that you have ordered hot lunch for your student(s). With this Friday being the beginning of April, there are some families that forgot to order pizza for Friday April 1st. While we do order an extra pizza in case slices are accidently dropped, we cannot provide pizza for students that aren’t signed up for Hot Lunch. However, we do provide the option for those students to grab food off the salad bar so they don’t go hungry during their lunch period.
