FROM THE PRINCIPAL:

Happy May!  We are officially on the home stretch of the school year. Yesterday’s May Crowning ceremony was a beautiful way to come together as a community to honor our Blessed Mother. 

.

Yesterday your student came home with their Jogathon packet. Once again we have partnered with PledgeStar to support our online pledges. To access online pledges, please go to https://Pledgestar.com/sjf/ to create your student(s) webpage and input potential donor’s email addresses. The PledgeStar portal makes tracking pledges easier as it emails you when you receive a pledge so you can add it to your pledge packet and the donor also receives an emailed receipt of their tax-deductible contribution to our Jogathon. Additionally, the class that sends out most PledgeStar pledge requests this week (through May 8) will win an extra raffle ticket for each student! Thanks for your participation in this SJF fundraiser.

Additionally, we want to invite all families to our Jog-A-Thon after party!  Catered by delicious Mississippi BBQ, this free event is for all families after school on Friday May 20th from 3pm - 6pm. The playground duty schedule for May 2022 is on your FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents. Playground duty is from 11:25-1:00. Check in at the school office and then head to the Corrado Family Center!  If you have a conflict with your scheduled duty date, or if you are able to help out on a date that is open, please contact our playground duty coordinator, Holly Hunt, at mailto:[email protected]. Thank you for helping our students in the lunchroom and on the playground.

JOG-A-THON 2022

Jogathon packets were sent home yesterday with every student. Please look over the info sheets for all the details. JOG-A-THON AFTERPARTY

Come and get together with the St. John Fisher School Community! Great food provided by Mississippi Delta BBQ with lots of fun provided by St. John Fisher School.

When:  Friday, May 20th from 3-6.  Food will be available from 3-5 and provided free of charge courtesy of the PTC and Men’s Club.  Beer/Wine is available for purchase.

FINAL REQUEST FOR YEARBOOK MESSAGES

Thank you for all you do for your students and the SJF Community. I am reaching out to you to make a Final Request for you to submit a Special Message for the Yearbook. We began collecting these earlier this year and I wanted to make sure you did not miss this opportunity. You may include a special photo in .jpg format if you wish also. 

Message Guidelines:

• Congratulate your student on their success this school year.

• Please keep submissions to 50 words or less. 

  • Example: Dear Scott Smithton, (3rd) We are so proud of you! You have worked really hard this year and always have a positive attitude. You are also a kind and respectful young man. Keep up the great work! Love, Mom and Dad

• Your message must be submitted before May 06, 2022. Please send the message to the email  address, 2022Yearbook@sjfschol.org, and be sure to indicate which student and their grade your message is intended for.

PARENT REMINDER - WATER BOTTLES NEEDED AT SCHOOL

As the weather starts to warm up, please be sure your student brings their water bottle to school each day.  All our water fountains on campus have been modified into water bottle refill stations.  It is difficult for your child to stay hydrated if they do not have anything to hold water.

GABRIEL PARK PLAY DATE

The new, more inclusive and accessible play area at Gabriel Park will open soon.  Join Portland Parks & Recreation on Saturday, May 14 from 10:30am - 12:30pm for a community celebration.  The ribbon cutting ceremony will be followed by free cupcakes and activities for all. https://www.portland.gov/parks/events/2022/5/14/gabriel-park-play-date

CENTRAL CATHOLIC SUMMER CLASSES

Central Catholic High School is pleased to offer a selection of courses this summer. While enrichment classes are available primarily for grades 9-12, some courses are also available for 7th and 8th grade students (check out the offerings here). 

We have also added a FINE ARTS SUMMER SESSION especially for Middle School students. Please see the attached flyer for detailed descriptions of each course. Questions and requests for financial aid can be directed to: summersession@centralcatholichigh.org and we will be in touch with you directly.
