SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT MEMO
Everything You Wanted To Know
Week of 09-04-23
What joy filled the halls as we opened the doors to the school year this morning! As we embark on this school year, let’s begin in prayer:
"God of wisdom and might, we praise you for the wonder of our being, for mind, body, and spirit. Be with our children as they begin a new school year. Bless them and their teachers and staff. Give them the strength and grace as their bodies grow; wisdom and knowledge to their minds as they search for understanding; and peace and zeal to their hearts.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
Welcome to our first official school weekly school newsletter. The “SAM” (Special Announcements Memo) comes from the school office via email every Tuesday. This weekly newsletter contains important parent information that will help keep you informed of the great activities that happen on our campus. Please make sure to read this mailing each week in a timely manner. After the SAM is sent to parents, it is added to your FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents. If you are not receiving this message at an email address that is convenient for you, please contact Mrs. Michele Wasman at [email protected] to update your email address.

Playground duty is from 11:25am - 1:00pm. On your assigned day, please check in at the school office first, and then head to the Corrado Family Center. It is important to arrive on time on your scheduled duty date. When you don’t show up, three different teachers must give up their lunch periods to cover the primary, intermediate, and middle school lunch recess periods.
If there is a conflict with your scheduled playground duty date, please notify Holly Hunt, our playground duty coordinator, as far in advance as possible so that she can reschedule your duty. Thank you for your help in the lunchroom and on the playground.

HAYHURST NEIGHBORHOOD SAFETY VIGIL
The Hayhurst Neighborhood Association will conduct a Safety Vigil tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 6 from 8:00-9:30 am. Additional information is on the attached flyer.

GRADES 5-8 STUDY HALL
Study Hall for students in grades 5-8 will begin next Tuesday, Sept. 12. Study hall is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 3:45pm in the 7th grade classroom, and is supervised by Deacon Scott. Remember, this is time to complete homework or collaborate with classmates on projects, not time to socialize.
BIKING TO SJF
If you and your children are interested in biking to school we would like to extend the invitation to join Evan (5th) and Hayden (1st) Schuller (and their father, Mike) biking to SJF. We bike to school on Mondays and Thursdays, sometimes on Wednesdays and Fridays depending on our work schedules. We live about 1 mile north of SJF by Pendleton Park. We could meet at the park, or coordinate a ride to meet depending on where people are starting from. From Pendleton Park we ride on neighborhood streets, south on SW 50th and then along the SW Vermont frontage road. We cross SW Vermont at the crosswalk by the school entrance, which is the busiest street on our route. Please email me if you would like to join: Mike Schuller
