SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT MEMO
Everything You Wanted To Know
Week of 09-16-24
A NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL:
We are looking forward to welcoming our Pre-K through Fifth Grade families at our Back to School Night tomorrow (9/18) at 6:30pm. We will begin in the Corrado Family Center for a welcome and distribution of our directory/handbook and then proceed to your child’s classroom.
One thing you will learn about at the Back to School Night are ways to get involved and volunteer at SJF. If you will be volunteering on campus this year in any capacity (CYO coaches, hot lunch, classroom helpers, room parents, field trip chaperones, etc.), you are required to complete the following before beginning any volunteer service.
New Parent Volunteer Requirements (New Family at SJF or you have not previously volunteered at school):
First, attend the in-person training, “Creating A Safe Environment” (CASE Training) . Please note that you must do your CASE training in person; there is not a remote option for the CASE training course. The CASE training schedule at SJF is:
Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 5:00pm
Friday, Sept. 20 at 8:30am (Right after morning drop-off)
Friday, Sept. 20 at 1:30pm (Finishes just before afternoon pickup)
A list of additional training sessions taking place throughout the diocese can be found HERE
Background Check - Once complete, your background check is good for 3 years. The background check and policy acknowledgement form are completed online through Praesidium Academy, the training portal used in the Archdiocese for all parent volunteers.
Read and digitally sign the “Know Your Policies” form
Ongoing Parent Volunteer Requirements (Returning families to SJF who will continue their service with minors):
Complete the online training update assigned by the Archdiocese. For the 2024-25 school year, parents may view either the “Preventing Sexual Activity Between Young Children” course, or the “Preventing Sexual Activity Between Adolescents” course. Additional information on these courses is attached to this SAM. You can access and view either course through your Praesidium Academy account.
Please contact Mrs. Wasman in the school office if you have any questions about volunteering at SJF.

For additional information email Robbie McGinty
SCHOOL PICTURE DAY
Lifetouch will be here for school pictures next Monday, Sept. 23. This is a free dress day for all students. Pre-order your picture package online today at mylifetouch.com. SJF’s picture day ID is EVT44TKWF. Ordering online allows you to create custom packages, gives you more background choices, and flexible payment options–plus no worrying if your student turned in their order envelope! Additional ordering information is available at the Cardinal Corner outside the school office.
CARLINE & PARKING LOT SAFETY REMINDERS
When parking in the upper lot during the school day, be sure to leave room for the students who use the upper playground for their recess times. Along with the play structure on the upper lot, students need room for basketball, four-square and other games on the blacktop. Please park by the rose bushes or the back fence.
For everyone’s safety, please be sure to use the crosswalk to go from the parking lot to the school building if you are walking your student into–or out of– school.
CARDINAL CLUB NEXT TUESDAY
Cardinal Club meets next Tuesday. This is a place to come and socialize and connect with planning committees for SJF PTC events. This is a great way to volunteer!
OKTOBERFEST AT SJF
Join us on Saturday, Sept. 28 to celebrate Oktoberfest, hopefully outside, but in the CFC if the weather does not cooperate. You can use the QR code to pre order your meals.
OCTOBER EXTENDED CARE
It’s not too early to sign up for October extended care coverage. The signup calendar for next month is attached to this SAM, and is also on your FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents and at the Cardinal Corner next to the school office.
