SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT MEMO
Everything You Wanted To Know
Week of 09-18-23
A NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
We are looking forward to welcoming our Pre-K through Fifth Grade families at our Back to School Night tomorrow (9/20) at 6:30pm. We will begin in the Corrado Family Center for a welcome and distribution of our directory/handbook and then proceed to your child’s classroom. See you then!
Now that we have had time to practice our drop off and pick up procedure, here are a few safety reminders:
Always drive slowly and cautiously on campus, and be aware of the surroundings during drop off and pick up. This includes the area behind the church. Many students who walk to school access the campus from this area, along with church staff and (often elderly) parishioners who park behind the church.
The school doors open at 8am. Students left before 8am are unsupervised so please wait till 8am before leaving campus.
Students not picked up by 3:15pm (2:15pm Wednesdays) are taken to attend extended care. You can pick up your child via the extended care room located on our lower level directly under the gym.
Pets should be left in the car during drop off and pick up. If you have your pet with you, please proceed through the pick up line for their safety and the safety of the students.
Children playing on the upper playground after school are welcome, but their parents must be present and responsible for supervision. Additionally, please don’t allow your child to venture down the hill behind the library as it poses a safety hazard.
Another feature at SJF to help us with safety is the addition of “Parent Alert” through our FACTS Student Information System. Parent Alert is a feature on our FACTS school information system that allows SJF to send out text communications. These alerts can be used for many reasons, but we choose to use Parent Alert sparingly as a fast and efficient way to communicate with families in case of an emergency (i.e. late start or school closure due to inclement weather.) It is not used for general correspondence or school reminders.
If you haven’t done so yet, please text the keyword “START” to 22-383 from your mobile device. Any text alerts from our school will begin with “SJF-ALERT”. Note: Per the Telephone Consumer Protection Act we have to provide all recipients the choice to Opt Out of receiving our alerts. Anytime we send out a text alert you will see a reminder that you can text “STOP” to end notifications. If you reply STOP you will no longer receive our text alerts, regardless of whether we select you as a recipient.
Enjoy these last official days of summer and see you tomorrow night at K-5th Back to School Night!
