Everything You Wanted To Know
Week of 10-14-24
A NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL:
This Friday, we will have our first service project when students have the opportunity to wear “free dress” with a free will offering for the Hurricane Helene Response Fund through Catholic Charities. We will be making 1 large donation on behalf of St. John Fisher so children are welcome to bring cash or check made out to St. John Fisher School. Thanks for your support!
Additionally this Friday, we are excited to host the first middle school dance for Holy Trinity, St. Cecilia and SJF students. Our theme for this dance is “Glow In The Dark.” Students can purchase tickets here: https://sjfs.ejoinme.org/dance. Special thanks to Lea Snyder-Rodgers and Trish Strauch for spearheading this event!
Last week we launched our parent/teacher conference sign ups and I’m happy to report that 89% of families have scheduled their conference. If you have not signed up yet, please see the attached document for the links to the teacher conference sign up sheets. Thanks for prioritizing these opportunities to partner with you in your child's education.
Finally, Halloween is right around the corner and we have a number of fun events planned for the day:
Costumes: Students may wear their Halloween costumes to school on Thursday, 10/31, however weapons, blood or masks are not allowed (Wigs and face paint are OK). If a student will not be wearing a costume, they are welcome to wear the SJF school uniform.
"Family Pumpkin Carving" contest: You can submit your decorated masterpiece to the tables placed in the outside breezeway of school by 8:10 am on Halloween morning. This year the following pumpkin themes will be judged: Funniest, Scariest, and Most Creative. Please pick up your pumpkin at dismissal.
Family Group Activity at 10:50: We will be celebrating Mexican heritage with a special Dia De Los Muertos activity with our family groups .
Assembly at 1pm: Mr. Vecchione and a number of our students in the middle school will be sponsoring a Halloween assembly in our gym. Students in grades PreK-5 and the Glee Club will be performing musical numbers, we will have a traditional Halloween parade, pumpkin pie eating contest and the pumpkin carving winners will be announced at the assembly. All are welcome!

CARDINAL HAPPENINGS
SJF HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL
We are pleased to be bringing the SJF Halloween Carnival to the Corrado Family Center Saturday Oct. 26 from 5:30 - 8:30 PM. This year we will be forgoing the haunted house but instead adding the trunk-or-treat. Trunk-or-treat will be hosted by SJF families and last for the first hour of the carnival. We will have all the games setup in the Corrado Center. The Halloween Carnival is open to all families in all grades and it is especially a great opportunity for new families in all grades to meet other families. It is a great community event for SJF and the Men’s Club is proud to put it on every year.
Tickets may be purchased at the event for the games, food, snacks, drinks, beer and wine (we will accept credit cards). It is two tickets for a dollar with the tickets redeemable for games, trunk-or-treat, food and beverages (i.e. games cost only one ticket for kids).
We need a few more volunteers to help with decorating the Corrado Center and during the event. As a reminder to our fabulous first grade families, your class is especially welcomed and encouraged to volunteer at the carnival. Cleanups are worth double volunteer hours since they are later in the evening. If you are interested in volunteering signup here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805044DABAA2AABF49-52220131-sjfhalloween#/
The Halloween Carnival will be from 5:30 - 8:30 PM on Saturday, October 26th in the Corrado Family Center and the trunk-or-treat will be outside.
