A NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
As we wrap up October, we have a number of events planned that I want to bring to your attention:
Mon, 10/23-Fri, 10/27: Scholastic Book Fair will be open in the school lobby after school and during conferences and classes have arranged times to visit the fair during the day as well. Should you choose to have your student purchase their books while they visit the fair during the school day, the easiest way to pay for books during the day is by using the ewallet system located HERE or via cash. Thanks for supporting a love of reading!
Tues, 10/24: Cardinal Club meeting tonight at 7pm! Please see below for additional details.
Thursday, 10/26 and Fri, 10/27: This Thursday and Friday are our annual parent/teacher conference days. Our front doors will be open on Thursday from 7:30am-10:
Sat, 10/28 at 6pm: The Men’s Club Halloween Carnival in the Corrado Family Center is open to all families in all grades and it is especially a great opportunity for new families in all grades to meet other families. It is a great community event for SJF and the Men’s Club is proud to put it on every year. Additionally, they are looking for a few more volunteers to help so if you are interested, please head to THIS LINK to sign up.
Sun, 10/29 at 10am: PreK - 1st Grade Open House! To help kick off our enrollment for the 2024-25 academic year, we are hosting a primary Open House focused for PreK, Kindergarten and 1st grade on Sunday, October 29th from 10-11am. Please pass along the attached flyer and Open House information to your friends and family that may be interested.
Tues, 10/31: Halloween Festivities! Mr. Vecchione and a number of our students in the middle school will be sponsoring a Halloween assembly at 1:15pm in our gym. Students in grades PreK-5 and the Glee Club will be performing musical numbers, we will have a traditional Halloween parade, pumpkin pie eating contest and the pumpkin carving winners will be announced at the assembly. All are welcome! The assembly will be followed by individual classrooms parties with dismissal at 3:05pm
Wed, 11/1: All Saints Day Mass led by our 4th grade at 1pm in the church and friends and family are welcome to attend.
Thurs, 11/2: All Souls Day where we will have traditional Mexican Ofrenda in our main lobby made by the 8th grade and a community Ofrenda in the lower hall. An Ofrenda is an altar built to honor lost loved ones. Students and families are welcome to bring a photo or small symbol to represent a loved one who has passed.

Parents, in addition to the reminders that are in the SAM each week, you can access the Playground Duty calendar on your FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents. Playground duty is from 11:25am - 1:00pm. On your assigned day, please check in at the school office first, and then head to the Corrado Family Center. If there is a conflict with your scheduled playground duty date, please notify Holly Hunt, our playground duty coordinator, as far in advance as possible so that she can reschedule your duty. Thank you for your help in the lunchroom and on the playground.
CARDINAL NEWS - CARDINAL CLUB MEETS TONIGHT AT 7PM
Cardinal Club meets tonight at 7pm in the Corrado Family Center. Cardinal Club is a social club for all members of the St. John Fisher community. Our mission is to build relationships, be in service to the SJF community and support the annual fundraising event Cardinal Week. Cardinal Club meets the 4th Tuesday of the month when school is in session and hosts various community and fundraising events throughout the school year. Volunteer hours may be claimed for participation.

Mass In Honor Of Military Personnel
In honor and celebration of our military personnel, we invite all service men and women to attend our special Veteran’s Day Mass on Wednesday, 11/8 at 1pm.
M.U.S.E. BAND
The M.U.S.E. Band classes started last week and we have a nice turn out. Registration is still open for grades 4-8 if you are interested in having your child participate.The class will close registration at the end of the month. Beginning Band is on Wednesdays right after school 2:10-3:00. Come join us!

CYO BASKETBALL REGISTRATION IS OPEN
It's time to register for the Winter 2023 SJF Basketball Season! Go Cards, Go!
Hot Shots (1st-2nd grades): Hot Shots is a combined 1st-2nd grades, co-ed league. Games are on Saturdays, with a 30 minute practice scheduled before the game (no weekday practices). Season will begin in January.
1st & 2nd: The registration fee is $235 per participant (LATE FEE : $300 Effective 11/27/23)
Register your 1st & 2nd graders for CYO Hot Shots Basketball
3rd-8th Grades: Practices are two days a week and will begin in late November. There will be one game in December, then a Holiday break, followed by the rest of the schedule beginning in early January.
Regular season games are on Saturdays and a championship tournament will be played in March.
3rd-8th: The registration fee is $275 per participant (LATE FEE : $325 Effective 11/27/23)
