SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT MEMO
Everything You Want to Know
Week of October 24, 2022
FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
This Thursday and Friday are our parent teacher conferences. We are looking forward to meeting with each of you and appreciate you prioritizing these opportunities as we partner in the education of our students and community.
We will be conducting our Kindergarten through 5th grade conferences in homeroom classrooms and 6th - 8th grade conferences in our Corrado Family Center. In order to receive your child’s progress report and STAR assessment scores, please check in via the school main lobby and then head to the homeroom classroom or Corrado Family Center for your conference(s).
As we prepare for the Halloween festivities on Monday, we have a number of fun events planned:
Costumes: Students may wear their Halloween costumes to school, however weapons, blood or masks are not allowed. (Wigs and face paint are OK) If a student will not be wearing a costume, they are welcome to wear the SJF school uniform or “free dress.”
"Family Pumpkin Carving" contest: You can submit your decorated masterpiece to the tables placed in the outside breezeway of school by 8:10 a.m. This year the following pumpkin categories will be judged: Funniest, Scariest, and Most Creative. Please pick up your pumpkin at dismissal.
Family Group Activity at 10:30am: Students will be gathering with their family groups to make some spooky skeletons.
Assembly at 1:00pm: Mr. Vecchione and a number of our students in the middle school will be sponsoring a Halloween assembly in our gym. Students in grades K-5 will be performing musical numbers and the pumpkin carving winners will be announced at the assembly. Families are welcome to attend.
Class Parties: Many classes will be hosting class parties during the last hour of the school day. Please check with your child’s classroom teacher or room parent regarding party details.
Free Dress for Florida this past Friday was a great success! The school raised $2,482.48 for the Diocese of Venice, FL. Thank you SJF students and parents for sharing your gifts with those in need.
In closing, I would like to send a huge “Thank You” to our HOSA BINGO night organizers, especially Danielle Floberg and her crew of volunteers and donors, for putting on such a fun event this past Friday. Our community festivities keep coming as we look forward to our “Mom’s Sweat & Socialize” tonight at 6:30pm (thanks to Lillie Stevens and Nora Jensen!) and the Men’s Club Halloween Carnival this Saturday from 6pm - 9pm. See you there!

THE SJF HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL IS BACK
We are pleased to be bringing The SJF Halloween Carnival back to the old cafeteria Saturday October 29th from 6 – 9 PM. The haunted house will be back, the games will be back, and we are looking forward to seeing all the costumes, especially those kindergarten costumes. The Halloween Carnival is open to all families in all grades and it is especially a great opportunity for kindergarten and new families to meet other families. It is a great community event for SJF and the Men’s Club is proud to be bringing it back with the haunted house!
Tickets may be purchased at the event for the games, food, snacks, drinks, beer and wine (we will accept credit cards). It is two tickets for a dollar with the tickets redeemable for games, food and beverages (i.e. games cost only one ticket for kids).
We need a few more volunteers to help with decorating the haunted house and during the event. Decorating and cleanup are worth double volunteer hours since they are later in the evening. If you are interested in volunteering signup here:
