A NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Get your BINGO daubers primed and ready to go for BINGO this Friday night! Doors open at 6pm and you are welcome to pre-order your cards, food and drink tickets HERE. Pre-order sales will close at 3pm on Thursday, but you can also purchase at the door the night of the event.

 

It’s with great pleasure that I introduce you all to our newest SJF staff member:  Mrs. Robbie McGinty is our new Outreach Coordinator. In this new role Robbie will be working with new families through the admissions process. We opened enrollment for the 2024-25 school year last week so if you know of any interested families, please direct them to Robbie at [email protected]. Welcome back to the staff, Robbie!

Finally, this weekend marks the end of the CYO fall sports season. Our SJF Cardinal Volleyball teams will be traveling around the city playing in the “Spike” tournament and you can find the complete schedule HERE. Best of luck to you all at the tournament and Congratulations on a great season!

Parents, in addition to the reminders that are in the SAM each week, you can access the Playground Duty calendar on your FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents. Playground duty is from 11:25am - 1:00pm. On your assigned day, please check in at the school office first, and then head to the Corrado Family Center. If there is a conflict with your scheduled playground duty date, please notify Holly Hunt, our playground duty coordinator, as far in advance as possible so that she can reschedule your duty. Thank you for your help in the lunchroom and on the playground.

 

CARDINAL HAPPENINGS - ANNIE JR. AUDITIONS

Auditions for this year’s middle school musical, Annie Jr., will take place next Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 20-21 from 3:15-4:30 in the Corrado Family Center (both days).  Students are required to attend both audition days in order to be cast in the show. Performance dates for the show are April 23-24, 2024. Auditions are open to 5th through 8th grade students.

Vocal Auditions: November 20th - Vocal auditions must be a one-minute, Broadway karaoke style (no lead vocals) accompaniment that can be accessed on YouTube.

Dance Auditions: November 21st

WE HONOR YOU!

Our Glee Club, led by Mr. Vecchione, honored our Veterans during Mass this past Wednesday, 11/8 with a beautiful tribute song called “We Honor You.” Check out this video of the students practicing and feel free to share this moving song with Veterans you know: 

 

ALTAR GUILD GREENS SALE

The Altar Guild is taking preorders for their annual Christmas greens sale items. The order form  is attached, and all orders are due by this coming Sunday, Nov. 19. Please see the attached flyer for details on the items available this season.

 

PICTURE RETAKE DAY - MONDAY NOV. 20

Picture retakes will happen on Monday morning, Nov. 20, starting at 8:30am.

If your student is having their picture retaken, they must bring their original picture package on retake day. Your original picture package envelope has the barcode from your order, and allows Lifetouch to re-print your photo package with the new image.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT - CHAPERONE MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE

SJF has teamed up with St. Cecilia and Holy Trinity schools again to offer our students the opportunity to attend middle school dances this year. The first dance is Friday, December 1st from 6:30-8:30pm at St. Cecilia. 

We are looking for a couple SJF parents to chaperone from 6:15-8:30pm. Volunteering at St. Cecilia for this dance is eligible for SJF Family Volunteer Hours. CYO VOLLEYBALL SPIKE TOURNAMENT

As the girls’ volleyball season comes to a close, SJF is hosting tournament games this week.  CYO charges admission for tournament play, and our school receives a portion of the gate proceeds.  

Parents, come cheer on the Cardinals, and earn some volunteer hours–OR–middle school students (Gr 6-8) can earn service hours by helping to collect gate admissions.

Help is still needed on the following days this week:

Thursday, 11/16- Shift: 5:30-7:10pm (2 games, 6 & 7pm)

Saturday, 11/18- Shift: 8:30am-12:10pm (3 games 9am, 10:30am, & 12pm)

(Volunteer can leave a few minutes after the last game of the day starts.)

CYO BASKETBALL UPDATED INFORMATION

Registration is still open for the Winter 2023 SJF Basketball Season!  Go Cards, Go!

Hot Shots (1st-2nd grades): Hot Shots is a combined 1st-2nd grades, co-ed league. Games are on Saturdays, with a 30-minute practice scheduled before the game (no weekday practices). Hot Shots will play one game on Saturday, Dec. 16th, take a Holiday break, and games will resume in early January.

1st & 2nd: The registration fee is $235 per participant (LATE FEE : $300 Effective 11/27/23)

Register your 1st & 2nd graders for CYO Hot Shots Basketball

3rd-8th Grades: Practices are two days a week and will begin in late November. Regular season games are on Saturdays and a championship tournament will be played in March. Games will begin on the first Saturday of January. 

3rd-8th: The registration fee is $275 per participant (LATE FEE : $325 Effective 11/27/23)
