SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT MEMO
Everything You Wanted To Know
Week of 11-18-24
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever!
-Psalm 107:1-
As we prepare for Thanksgiving next week, our virtue for this week is Gratitude. Through dedicated gifts of time, talent and treasure, our faculty, staff, parents and students work tremendously hard each and every day to provide our SJF community with a quality Catholic education. Thank you for all you do for St. John Fisher Church and School!
We will celebrate gratitude as a school community this Wednesday at our annual Thanksgiving luncheon. Our chef’s have been working around the clock to make a huge feast we will share in our family groups, followed by recess and our Thanksgiving Mass. All are welcome to either volunteer and help at the luncheon or join us for our Mass at 1pm.
This week's forecasted weather reminds us that winter has arrived. Here is a review of SJF’s inclement weather policies. You can also locate this information on pages 14 and 15 of your Parent/Student Handbook (the little red handbook):
Announcements concerning school closure and late starts are shared with families via parent email, posting on the SJF Facebook & Instagram pages, posting on the Announcements banner of your Family Portal on FACTS, and via the FACTS Parent Alert text feature.
During inclement weather, keep the following points in mind:
If the Portland Public School District (PPS) is closed, SJF is closed.
If PPS has a late opening, SJF has a late start with doors opening at 10:00am.
Morning Extended Care and Hot Lunch are not available on late start days.
SJF does reserve the right to make an independent decision regarding school closure or late opening.
If you haven’t yet enrolled in the Parent Alert text feature, please text the keyword “START” to 317065 from your mobile device. Any text alerts from our school will begin with “Parent_Alert: SJF-OR” and calls will show “503-246-3234” (school phone number).
