FROM THE PRINCIPAL: 

Happy 3rd Week of Advent!  As we continue to prepare our hearts, minds and homes to celebrate Jesus' birth, we have many events these final days of school before Christmas break.  Tomorrow night at 5:30pm is our band, glee and K-4 Christmas program in our church.  Students are asked to arrive at 5:00pm and report to the church. Dress for this fun event is Christmas/Sunday best clothing. See you there!

Wednesday marks the end of our St. Vincent de Paul food drive. Thank you very much for your food donations as we feed a couple hundred families in our local Southwest Portland community. The 7th and 8th grade students will be helping our St. Vincent de Paul group put together food boxes this Thursday and Friday for delivery on Saturday. If you are interested in helping pack boxes, feel free to join us this Friday night at 6:30pm in the cafeteria. Father Richard will bless the food on Saturday morning at 9:45am and delivery will begin shortly after the blessing. Thanks again for your generous donations in service to our greater Southwest Portland community.

As you look to finalize your Christmas plans, here’s a list of the days/times for our Christmas Masses:

• Sat, 12/24: Christmas Eve Mass @ 4:00pm (Family Mass), 6:00pm, and 10:00pm  

• Sun, 12/25: Christmas Day Mass @ 9:00am, & 11:00am

PLAYGROUND DUTY REMINDERS:

Playground duty is from 11:25-1:00. The December & January duty calendars are on your FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents. On your assigned day, please check in at the school office and then head to the Corrado Family Center!  It is important to arrive on time on your scheduled playground duty date.  When you don’t show up, three different teachers must give up their lunch periods to cover the primary, intermediate, and middle school lunch recess periods. If you have a conflict with your scheduled duty date, or you are able to help out on a date that needs coverage, please contact our playground duty coordinator, Holly Hunt, at mailto:[email protected]. Thank you for helping our students in the lunchroom and on the playground.

ADVENT GIVING TREE

If you took an ornament off the Advent Giving Tree, be sure to bring your new, unwrapped present back to school by this Friday, Dec. 16 and place it back under the tree.  Thanks for your support!

JANUARY EXTENDED CARE

Parents, please sign up for your January 2023 extended care dates using the attached Extended Care calendar.  This calendar is also available on your FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents.

LOST & FOUND CLOSET

The Lost & Found closet has been emptied out once again (thank you, Erin McClaskey) and is on display in the main school entrance.  Please come take a look for any missing jackets, uniform pieces, water bottles, and lunch boxes.  Items will remain on display until Wednesday, 12/14.  Unclaimed uniform items will go to uniform exchange; the rest will be taken to Goodwill.

CHESS WIZARDS WINTER SESSION

Registration is open for the Winter session of Chess Wizards.  This session will be on Wednesdays from 2-3pm, starting Jan. 11 and going through March 22.  Registration is online only at chesswizards.com, or using the QR code on the attached flyer.

CALLING ALL PARTY COORDINATORS!

This past Friday our 6th - 8th grade students gathered with our friends from Holy Trinity and St. Cecilia for a fun and festive “Snow Ball” dance. SJF has volunteered to host a similar event on our campus for these schools this spring. We are looking for a volunteer (or group of volunteers) to lead the organization and planning for this event.
