A NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Happy Summer SJF Families! As we embark on this second week of vacation, I hope this finds you relaxed and enjoying the extra time with family and friends. For those new to the SJF community, Welcome!  Each Tuesday our Office Administrator, Mrs. Michele Wasman, emails a weekly SAM (Special Announcements Memo) that lists various activities/events/calendar items to help keep you informed of school events. 

Since Michele and I are about to begin our vacation, we thought it may be helpful to send a SAM today to remind you of a few things happening on campus this summer and help you start thinking about your plans for this upcoming September.

SUMMER EVENTS

• Thank you Father Richard, PTC, SAC, Men’s Club and Altar Guild!

Father Richard’s Retirement Mass and Celebration was a lovely event this past Saturday! We had over 300 guests in attendance for this special occasion. Huge thanks go out to our PTC, SAC, Men’s Club, Altar Guild and the numerous volunteers that assisted before, during and after the event. Father Richard’s last official Masses at SJF will be this weekend: Saturday at 4:30pm, Sunday at 9am, 11am and 5:30pm

• Welcome Father Valentine

Father Valentine officially begins as our Pastor on Monday, July 1st. There will be many opportunities to meet him once the school year begins, but the best way to get to know him ahead of time would be to come to Mass this summer and make sure to introduce yourself.

• SJF Summer Camp

SJF Summer Camp got underway this week, and it’s not too late to join the fun! Information about the program is attached. Drew Boyer, our summer camp director, can answer any additional questions you may have. 

• SJF SUMMER CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Our campus is remodeling all our light fixtures to be LED for this next school year! Thanks to our Facilities Manager, Mr. Kerry Oliver and the SAC facilities team for helping orchestrate this construction project!

• 2024-25 CALENDAR AND SUPPLY LIST

Attached is an updated Annual Calendar and Supply List. In an effort to keep on top of all the events at SJF, you are welcome to download our calendar into Google Calendar HERE. You can also find this information on your FACTS Family Portal under “Resource Documents.” 

• UNIFORMS

Uniforms are required for the first day of school. We will have gently used uniform pieces for sale on Thursday, Aug. 29 from 2:30-4:00 pm during our School Supply Dropoff and Uniform Sale event. The Dress Code for the 2024-25 school year is attached to this SAM, and also located under the Resource Documents section of your FACTS Family Portal.

• GET YOUR 2024-25 SCHOOL UNIFORM SWEATSHIRTS NOW!

The 2024-25 school uniform sweatshirt collection is now live on sjfspirit.com. This new collection features two sweatshirt styles for all students, as well as a colorway that's exclusive to the incoming 8th grade class. All three garments can be bought with no name on the back, or can be customized with your students' last name. Order now to have your sweatshirts shipped to your home in July.

In addition to the 2024-25 uniform sweatshirts; middle school PE uniforms, both colors of Friday Uniform t-shirts, and select leftover Spirit Wear items (while supplies last) are available to purchase, as well. 

• STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK AND CODE OF CONDUCT

The updated 2024-25 Student/Parent Handbook and Code of Conduct are attached to this SAM. Additionally, to help identify what has been updated, you will find a 2 page document listing the updates. Hard copies will be available at Back to School Night. 

• CYO VOLLEYBALL

The CYO volleyball season will be here soon! Registration will open Friday, June 28! Click here to register: https://www.cyocamphoward.org/content/16607/SJF-Volleyball

Register as soon as possible! The registration fee will increase on September 1st and your daughter cannot practice until registered. 

Practice days/times are TBD, and can start the week of August 19. Practices are twice per week with 8 regular season games every Saturday, starting in mid-September.There will be preseason and postseason tournaments. The Challenge Tournament will be Saturday, September 14th and the Spike Tournament will be November 12th-16th. 

Uniforms- Jerseys ordered from Gear-Up Sports. (If you have one from previous seasons, they can be reused. We will send out order information in August. Black shorts and knee pads can be purchased through GearUp or separately.)

Go Cardinals!

**Please note that CYO will be offering boys volleyball for the first time this fall. There will be a 3rd/4th grade division, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th. Please email Justin Reel (SJF AD) if you’re interested in playing. If there are enough SJF boys interested within an age group, and an adult willing to coach them, we can create a team. If both of those criteria aren’t met, we’ll try to help your child find a team to play with at a school that will offer a team.
