A NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

What a fantastic camping trip last week! Thank you SJF families for all your support with our Cardinal Week of Giving. With over 92% family participation, we surpassed our goal and raised over $120,000, meeting our match of $55,000! Final fundraising totals are still rolling in from sales at the event including easel parties. Some slots in easel parties remain so feel free to stop by the lobby this week before or after school to sign up for events like the Around the World Dinner (June 8, 2024), 3rd - 6th grade girls sleepover (Sept 6, 2024), Tacos and Tequila (Sept 6, 2024) or Ice Skating and Cocoa with the Winterhawks (January, 2025).

 

Congratulations to our top 3 classes for participation: Kindergarten, 1st grade and 3rd grade for 100% participation! I would like to send a huge “Thank You” to Maddie O’Neill Andrews, our camp director, Katie Kennedy, our camp events coordinator, the spirit committee for making the week so fun for the kids and the numerous other volunteers that helped make this event possible. Go Cardinals!

Parents, in addition to the reminders that are in the SAM each week, you can access the Playground Duty calendar on your FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents. Playground duty is from 11:25am - 1:00pm. On your assigned day, please check in at the school office first, and then head to the Corrado Family Center. If there is a conflict with your scheduled playground duty date, please notify Holly Hunt, our playground duty coordinator, as far in advance as possible so that she can reschedule your duty. Thank you for your help in the lunchroom and on the playground.

CYO TRACK & FIELD - COACH NEEDED

CYO Track & Field season is approaching and we need a head coach!

This is a great opportunity to help out and be involved in your child's sport. Not to mention gain volunteer hours AND the head coach/coordinator's child(ren) play that sport for free!

• Practices start the week after Spring Break and will be twice a week at Valley Catholic (likely from 5:30-7pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, pending Valley Catholic's schedule).

• Meets will be on April 13th, 20th, 27th, and May 4th. The Roadrunner Championship is  on May 11th and the Meet of Champions is on May 18th-19th.

MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE

St. John Fisher will host the second middle school dance of the year on Saturday, March 2 from 6:30-8:30pm in the Corrado Family Center!

• Open to current middle school students at St. Cecelia’s, SJF and Holy Trinity only

GRANDPARENTS’ DAY LIBRARY BOOK SALE OPPORTUNITY

Thank you to all who purchased books for our library! There are now 167 new books for our students reading needs and pleasures. 

We still have 87 books available for purchase! Go to this LINK  to browse the books and prices. Email Mrs. Burd your requests and she will set aside the books. Purchases will be given to your child to take home. Checks or cash, in an envelope marked Library Book Sale, can be left at the school office or given to your child's teacher.

M.U.S.E. BAND WINTER CONCERT

Band students from SJF and 11 other area schools will be performing together as one

ensemble this Saturday at the mid-year Band Concert. Family and friends are invited. Beginning

Band Concert is at 2:00 and the Intermediate/Advanced Band Concert is at 3:00pm. The

M.U.S.E Honor Band will be featured at both concerts as well as the Central Catholic High

School Band. It is being hosted by Central Catholic High school in their gym.

 

SJF’S NEW SPIRIT WEAR COLLECTION

Our brand new Spirit Wear collection is officially live now through Friday, February 16th. Head over to our new merchandise site sjfspirit.com (link to the site) to shop first the collection now! The first Spirit Wear collection includes premium apparel garments and accessories to help SJF parents, alumni, community supporters and students show their SJF pride in the community. Proceeds from sales help support SJF programs including technology, field trips and art literacy. 

Included in the collection is the special 'Friday Uniform tee' that can be worn as part of your children’s school uniform every Friday in place of other school-issued uniform tops. This piece is available in both youth and adult sizes to capture students of all ages. See the attached flyers for more info!

About the pre-order window (now through February 16th): Spirit Wear collections will be available to purchase in limited pre-order windows, with products being produced after the window closes, to keep SJF from having to hold inventory.

ALTAR GUILD CANDY SALE

The SJF Altar Guild’s annual Valentine’s Day Truffle & Fudge sale will run through this weekend (Feb. 10-11) after all Masses.  Assorted truffles and fudge are available to purchase from the Brigittine Monks! Additional information is on the attached flyer.
