SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT MEMO
Everything You Wanted To Know
Week of February 19, 2024
A NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
It’s my great honor to recognize an SJF student who was awarded the NCEA 2023-2024 Youth Virtues, Valor and Vision Award from the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) for selfless service, determination, innovation and ideals that are changing the world.
“Teaching the whole child is not just about what the student learns in isolation; it’s about how they relate to their community,” said NCEA President/CEO Lincoln Snyder. “The students who have won the NCEA Youth Virtues, Valor and Vision Awards articulate the goal of Catholic
education to educate and nourish the whole person, to understand that Jesus loves us so much he asks us to do something great for others. These young people have answered that call in light of our faith and are examples to us all.”
This student was chosen from more than 1.6 million Catholic school students across the country. I want to invite my close colleague, Mrs. Lillie Stevens to further elaborate on our award recipients gifts and talents that led our recipient to their award….
When I read the description of this award, I immediately thought of my niece Gloria Jensen. Gloria exemplifies servant leadership. Every weekend Gloria is an altar server at Mass. She truly believes that this is a special role that she can fill that not only helps her grow in her faith, but also helps the parishioners and pastor too. She participates in a wide variety of extra curricular activities from sports to Oregon Battle of the Books to Glee and more. In all of these activities she puts in her whole effort. And in her home life, I get to see her being so kind and caring with not only her little siblings, but also her younger cousins and does it all with a smile on her face. Gloria could not be more deserving of this award and I am so pleased to be here to celebrate with her!
Congratulations to Gloria Jensen!
