FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
Welcome back to campus, SJF! Although the snow days last week were beautiful, it was so fun to see all the smiling faces returning yesterday morning. As we head into this week and with March starting tomorrow, here are a few events happening between now and spring break I wanted to make sure you had on your calendar:
Tues, 2/28: 3rd - 8th field trip to see the Wizard of Oz at Jesuit!
Thurs, 3/2: Read Across America Day - students can wear PJs to school as our spirit theme dress and please have them bring their favorite children’s book as they will be doing a reading activity with their family group this morning
Wed, 3/8: Parent Information Night at 5:30pm - this evening is an opportunity for you to come and listen to members of our School Advisory Council and Parent Teacher Club discuss our school community. Agenda items include highlighting our progress towards our strategic plan, announcing the budget process for 2023-24, and getting ready for our Jogathon on Friday, May 19th, and more. Hope to see you there!
Wed, 3/15: At 5:30pm we will host our Social Studies Fair! Student projects will be on display throughout the school so make sure you stop by the various classrooms during your visit
Fri, 3/17 and Sat, 3/18: Our HOSA elective (future health professionals) will be competing in the state competition - good luck!
Sat, 3/18: SJF will host Holy Trinity and St. Cecilia middle school students for our “Neon Nights” dance.
Sun, 3/19: Knights of Columbus will be hosting a pancake breakfast after the 9am and 11am Masses in the Corrado Family Center
Wed, 3/22: We will host our incoming Kindergarten class for their “Preschool Activity Hour” at 2:30pm - September will be here before we know it!

PLAYGROUND DUTY REMINDERS:
Playground duty is from 11:25-1:00. The March 2023 duty calendar is on your FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents. On your assigned day, please check in at the school office and then head to the Corrado Family Center! It is important to arrive on time on your scheduled playground duty date. When you don’t show up, three different teachers must give up their lunch periods to cover the primary, intermediate, and middle school lunch recess periods. If you have a conflict with your scheduled duty date, or you are able to help out on a date that needs coverage, please contact our playground duty coordinator, Holly Hunt, at mailto:[email protected]. Thank you for helping our students in the lunchroom and on the playground.

Please submit your dates for March extended care coverage to Susan Robinson. The March 2023 calendar is attached to this newsletter and is also available on your FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - END OF SEASON BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
SJF will be hosting CYO basketball games in our gym. We need help working the gate for these games.
Please contact JB Gibbs (325) 271-5311 or [email protected] if you can help one or more of these shifts.
This is a great way for parents to earn family volunteer hours, and for our CYO program to earn additional revenue.
This opportunity is also open for 5th graders and older if volunteer hours are needed.

Saturday, 3/4- 8:30am-10:30am and 11am-1pm (2 shifts, 1 volunteer per shift)
Sunday, 3/5- 11:30am-1:45pm and 2:30pm-4:45pm (2 shifts, 1 volunteer per shift)
Monday, 3/6-3/12- TBD (Make up games for 3rd-4th grade and Hot Shots Tournaments)

It's time to register for the Spring 2023 SJF Track & Field Season!

The registration fee is $225 per participant (LATE FEE: $275 Effective 3/24/2023)
If necessary, depending on current inventory: Uniform order link will be sent to registrants at a later date.
Practices will be at Valley Catholic High School on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30pm (Time may change).
Meets are on four Saturdays beginning April 15th plus the championship meets on May 13 (younger grades) and May 20-21 (older grades).
