Everything You Want to Know
Week of June 6, 2022
FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
As we head towards the final days of the school year, here are a few events you will want to have on your calendar:
Thursday, June 9th: 8th grade students and parents share Mass together at 1pm, followed by the “Note to Self” presentations and retreat.
Monday, June 13th: Field Day from 8:45am-11:15am: students have athletic free dress and we encourage them to bring a change of clothes since many of the stations involve water and it looks to be nice and warm! Our 8th grade vs faculty volleyball game will be at 2:00pm in the gym and we wrap up the day with the 8th grade clap out at 3:00pm.
Tuesday, June 14th: New Alumni Luncheon for our graduates at 1pm and the graduation Mass and ceremony at 7:00pm in the church
Wednesday, June 15th: Final Mass of the year at 1:00pm
Friday, June 17th: Last day of school! End of year assembly at 10:30am in the church, followed by class parties and dismissal at noon.

The playground duty schedule for June 2022 is on your FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents. Playground duty is from 11:25-1:00. Check in at the school office and then head to the Corrado Family Center! If you have a conflict with your scheduled duty date, or if you are able to help out on a date that is open, please contact our playground duty coordinator, Holly Hunt, at mailto:[email protected]. VOLUNTEER HOURS DUE
SJF families, the end of the year is coming soon, and we need you to finish entering volunteer hours for this school year. If you know you will be completing hours in June, please estimate and add those hours.
Here is a quick tutorial on how and where to enter your volunteer hours:
Log in to FACTS family portal and select 'Family Home'
Then select yourself in the drop down and then 'add'
As a reminder this year we have changed the requirement to 20 hours per family. For each hour that you did not fulfill, you will be charged $50. If you have any questions please reach out to PTC volunteer coordinator, Nora Jensen [email protected]
LIBRARY BOOKS DUE
ALL LIBRARY BOOKS (except those required by a classroom assignment) WERE DUE ON MONDAY JUNE 6TH! Inventory begins and books are needed to complete this process and prepare for next school year. Thank you!
2022-23 SPIRIT WEAR
Our “Spirit Wear” sweatshirt is up and ready for you to order HERE for the 2022-23 school year. Due to safety and discipline issues with students hiding objects in the pockets (toys, cell phones, etc), no hooded sweatshirts will be allowed for the 2022-23 school year. Thanks for your understanding.
SJF CYO VOLLEYBALL
Girls entering 3rd through 8th grades, get ready for SJF Volleyball this fall!
Registration opens later this summer and practices begin the week of August 15th. More details to come in Summer SAMs.

JOGATHON WRAP UP
Thank you to EVERYONE for your tremendous support on Jogathon this year- our SJF community really came through! This week students will receive raffle tickets they earned through fundraising, running and Jogathon Bingo and be able to place them into the drawings of their choosing. Raffle drawings will occur on Thursday.

SJF SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Keep your kids reading this summer! Did you know that studies (Brookings Institute) show that the average student loses one month of reading skills during the summer?
SJF's Summer Reading Program will keep their skills sharp while they are motivated to read. We will honor students with a popsicle and special recognition in September for completing a summer reading activity. See the flyer for details, including suggested book lists, plus local and online activities. Happy Reading!

FLAG FOOTBALL SKILLS CAMP
Boys and girls are invited to attend the 11th Annual Nigel Burton Flag Football camp on July 5-8 from 9a-12p at Cronin Field on the Jesuit High School campus. We have held this camp for over a decade to help kids in our community learn teamwork, how to compete and just have fun. I've been joined by Pacific NW football legends like Joey Harrington (UO), Lincoln Kennedy (UW), Alex Brink (WSU), Jaquizz Rodgers (OSU), as well as current coaches from Jesuit and Central Catholic High School, as well. CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is for children 1st grade and younger and happens most Sundays during the school year during the 9:00am Mass. There is additional information, including family volunteer opportunities, on the attached flyer.
M.U.S.E. BAND REGISTRATION FOR 2022-23
M.U.S.E. Band Registration is open for this coming fall for students entering grades 4-8 This is a great way for students to learn an instrument and be in a group setting with friends. M.U.S.E. offers fun performance opportunities that includes their annual spring concert at Oaks Amusement Park where students perform and enjoy the rides. This year's students (2021-2022) are also participating in the Portland Junior Rose Parade.
Class sizes are limited so if you are interested, we encourage parents to sign up as soon as possible.
