SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT MEMO
Everything You Want to Know
Week of June 13, 2022
FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
We are fast approaching the finish line to the 2021-22 school year and looking forward to the fun days of summer ahead. At this time, we would like to invite everyone to check out our 2021-22 Annual Report which summarizes our busy and fruitful school year here at SJF.
As I reflect back on this past year, I want to extend a huge “Thank You” to Father Richard Thompson, and our faculty, staff, students and their families for an amazing school year! Each day has brought new adventures for us all and I cannot wait to see what 2022-23 will bring for our parish and school community.
In closing, I want to leave you with a prayer: Lord, keep a close eye on us as we head into summer. Keep us safe, share with us our fun memories, and help us to be thankful for good times spent with our families. Amen!

WELCOME MR. GREG DEVILLE!
It’s with great pleasure that I introduce you to our new 5th - 8th math and art teacher, Mr. Greg DeVille. Mr. DeVille earned his Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of Portland and has been teaching at St. Luke Catholic School in Woodburn since 2017. As a PE and health teacher for 2 years, he worked with all K-8 students and then transitioned to middle school math and 8th grade homeroom teacher for the past 3 years. During the interview process, our hiring committee really enjoyed his faithful spirit to ensure the education of the whole child and his creativity to incorporate technology into his curriculum. Additionally, his current principal praised his connection with the students, patience and dedication to ensuring all students succeed. Welcome Mr. DeVille!
RETIREMENT FOR MRS. LOBERG AND GRADUATION FOR MR. MAHER
Each year brings about new opportunities for not only our students, but for our faculty and staff as well. After assisting our second grade since 2017, Mrs. Connie Loberg is transitioning into retirement this summer. Her loving care and skilled hands with our costume design for our musicals and plays will surely be missed. We wish her and her family all the best as she settles into retirement.
Additionally, Mr. Pat Maher will be graduating with our 8th graders and heading to teach at Valley Catholic High School. We appreciate all his work with our IT, particularly during our spring on-line schooling in 2020 and hybrid teaching last school year. We wish him all the best!

We will have a number of current NFL and College players helping with the camp. This is a great opportunity for kids to receive great instruction from these players.
SJF SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Keep your kids reading this summer! Did you know that studies (Brookings Institute) show that the average student loses one month of reading skills during the summer?
SJF's Summer Reading Program will keep their skills sharp while they are motivated to read. We will honor students with a popsicle and special recognition in September for completing a summer reading activity. See the flyer for details, including suggested book lists, plus local and online activities. Happy Reading!
