SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT MEMO
Everything You Wanted To Know
Week of 10-21-24
A NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL:
As we wrap up October, we have a number of events planned I wanted to bring to your attention:
Mon, 10/21-Fri, 10/25: Scholastic Book Fair will be open in the school lobby after school and during conferences and classes have arranged times to visit the fair during the day as well. Should you choose to have your student purchase their books while they visit the fair during the school day, the easiest way to pay for books during the day is by using the ewallet system located HERE or via cash. Thanks for supporting a love of reading!
Tues, 10/22: Cardinal Club meeting tonight at 7pm! Come meet with our families and help plan/organize our upcoming community events such as the Christmas Bazaar, Week of Giving and Parent’s Night Out! See you there!
Thursday, 10/24 and Fri, 10/25: This Thursday and Friday are our annual parent/teacher conference days. Our front doors will be open on Thursday from 7:30am-10:30am, 12:00pm-2:00pm and 5:00pm-8:00pm and on Friday from 7:30am-10:30am. All families are asked to enter via the front doors to check in and pick up their child’s midterm progress report and STAR assessment scores. Then, parents can make their way to the following locations:
PreK: library
Kindergarten - 5th Grade: homeroom classroom
6th - 8th: Corrado Family Center.
For families that miss conferences, your students midterm progress report and
STAR assessment scores will be sent home with your child on Monday.
Sat, 10/26 at 5:30pm: The Men’s Club Halloween Carnival in the Corrado Family Center is open to all families in all grades and it is especially a great opportunity for new families in all grades to meet other families. It is a great community event for SJF and the Men’s Club is proud to put it on every year. Additionally, they are looking for a few more volunteers to help so if you are interested, please head to THIS LINK to sign up.
Thurs, 10/31: Halloween Festivities! Mr. Vecchione and a number of our students in the middle school will be sponsoring a Halloween assembly at 1pm in our gym. Students in grades PreK-5th and the Glee Club will be performing musical numbers, we will have a traditional Halloween parade, pumpkin pie eating contest and the pumpkin carving winners (scariest, most creative, and funniest) will be announced at the assembly. All are welcome! The assembly will be followed by individual classroom parties with dismissal at 3:05pm. NOTE: extended care will end at 5pm to allow time for all students and families to trick-or-treat.
Fri, 11/1: All Saints Day Mass led by our 4th grade at 9am in the church and friends and family are welcome to attend. Additionally, with All Souls Day on Saturday, November 2nd, we will have a traditional Mexican Ofrenda in our main lobby made by the 8th grade and a community Ofrenda in the lower hall. An Ofrenda is an altar built to honor lost loved ones. Students and families are welcome to bring a photo or small symbol to represent a loved one who has passed.

CARDINAL HAPPENINGS
The middle school dance was a glowing good time! Special thanks to Lea Snyder-Rodgers and Trish Strauch for chairing the event and to their crew of volunteers who did an exceptional job with set up, decorations and take down.
SJF HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL
The SJF Halloween Carnival happens this Saturday Oct. 26 from 5:30 - 8:30 PM. in the CFC! This year we will be forgoing the haunted house but instead adding the trunk-or-treat. Trunk-or-treat will be hosted by SJF families and last for the first hour of the carnival. We will have all the games setup in the Corrado Center. The Halloween Carnival is open to all families in all grades and it is especially a great opportunity for new families in all grades to meet other families. It is a great community event for SJF and the Men’s Club is proud to put it on every year.
Tickets may be purchased at the event for the games, food, snacks, drinks, beer and wine (we will accept credit cards). It is two tickets for a dollar with the tickets redeemable for games, trunk-or-treat, food and beverages (i.e. games cost only one ticket for kids).
We need a few more volunteers to help with decorating the Corrado Center and during the event. As a reminder to our fabulous first grade families, your class is especially welcomed and encouraged to volunteer at the carnival. Cleanups are worth double volunteer hours since they are later in the evening. If you are interested in volunteering signup here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805044DABAA2AABF49-52220131-sjfhalloween#/
The Halloween Carnival will be from 5:30 - 8:30 PM on Saturday, October 26th in the Corrado Family Center and the trunk-or-treat will be outside.
