SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT MEMO
Everything You Wanted To Know
Week of 12-02-24
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
Welcome to Advent! As we get ready to celebrate the birth of our Savior, let us remember there are many ways for us to prepare. Here at St. John Fisher Parish and School we have many traditions to help us celebrate the season:
Advent Activity Calendar: The attached Advent activity calendar is filled with ideas to help us prepare our hearts and minds for the celebration of Christmas.
Advent Prayer Service on Monday’s at 8:20am in the gym: in lieu of morning hall prayer, during the month of December our entire school community will gather in our gym each Monday morning at 8:20am for our Advent Prayer Service. This activity, led by faculty and students, helps bring our focus to the true meaning of Christmas as we prepare for the birth of Jesus. All are welcome to attend!
Christmas Fest 2024!: This Saturday, 12/7 is our parish and school Christmas Fest in the Corrado Family Center. Come visit with Santa, crafts, holiday shopping, cake walk, puzzle swap and more! Sparkling cheer, beer and snacks will be available for purchase.
St. Vincent de Paul Food Drive: Another way our school and parish prepare for Christmas is to donate items to our St. Vincent de Paul food drive. This active ministry within our parish will put together over 200 food boxes that will feed families in the local Southwest Portland community. Please take some time during your grocery shopping this weekend and pick up a little something for those in need. In an effort to have a variety of items for our food boxes, here are some suggested donations for each class:
PreK and K: Pasta and Toothbrushes
1st and 7th grades: Brown and white rice and bar soap
2nd and 6th grades: Canned meat and tuna and shampoo
3rd and 5th grades: Canned veggies and fruit and deodorant
4th and 8th grades: Soup, chili and toothpaste
Christmas Program for PreK - 4th, Glee and Band on Wednesday, 12/18 at 5:30pm: Students are asked to report to their classroom at 5:10pm and are encouraged to wear their “Sunday Best” with Christmas accessories. This event is fun for all ages so feel free to invite your family/friends.
