ADVENT GIVING TREE
This Advent, SJF is partnering with the Good Neighbor Center in Tigard to provide presents for families that are in need this holiday season. Come pick an ornament off of our Christmas tree set up in the main school entrance. It will have a specific ask listed. Be sure to bring your new, unwrapped present back to school by Friday, Dec. 16 and place it back under the tree. Thanks for your support!
SJF HEART HEROES
Kids Heart Challenge has officially ended and I am so proud of our families for coming together to focus on heart health and helping others over the last few weeks! 66 students took the challenge to Move More or Be Kind, 8 families learned the lifesaving skill of hands-only CPR, 4 students completed Finn’s Mission and your school raised $4,587 for the American Heart Association, helping to save 91 lives! THANK YOU for your incredible generosity and support of our school and this lifesaving program.
Special CONGRATULATIONS to Ms. Sheridan’s 2nd grade class for being the top participating and fundraising class this year! Students will get to celebrate with an exciting Spirit Day soon!

THANK YOU SJF HEART HEROES! You are making a difference in the fight against heart disease
PREPARING FOR ADVENT
Our school has a number of ways to help us prepare for Christmas. First, we will celebrate with an all-school Advent prayer service each Monday at 8:15am in the old cafeteria. Our faculty, staff and students will be leading these prayer services and families are welcome to attend. Additionally, we will be continuing our focus on the virtues and concentrate on the Advent virtues of prayerfulness, humility, obedience, generosity, gratitude, patience and docility. Attached is a great worksheet of how the students can know and live these virtues. Finally, we have created a “December Kindness Calendar,” that students can use as their own Advent calendar preparing for Christmas. Feel free to download the calendar from this newsletter to help your child incorporate kindness into each day during Advent.
LOST & FOUND CLOSET
The Lost & Found closet has been emptied out once again (thank you, Erin McClaskey) and is on display in the main school entrance. Please come take a look for any missing jackets, uniform pieces, water bottles, and lunch boxes. Items will be on display until the end of this week. Unclaimed uniform items will go to uniform exchange; the rest will be taken to Goodwill.
