FROM THE PRINCIPAL: 

Happy Summer and welcome to our 2022-23 school year!  I hope you all are enjoying this extra time with friends, family, and our warm weather.  Here at St. John Fisher School we are gearing up for another fantastic year!  Classrooms are being prepped and we are busily preparing for the faculty and staff to come back August 29th.

To help us transition into the 2022-23 school year, we will be hosting a casual community event and uniform sale on September 1st from 2:30pm - 4pm.  This is a great opportunity for you to come say hello to your new teacher, and reconnect with your friends. Students in grades 1st - 8th are welcome to bring their school supplies. 

If you have any needs before the school year begins, Mrs. Michele Wasman and I are back to our office hours (Mon-Fri 8:30am-3:30pm) and can be reached via email ([email protected] or mwasm[email protected]).  I wish you the best as you enjoy the last weeks of your vacation. We look forward to seeing our students and families in September! 

 

CALENDAR REMINDERS:

**Thursday 9/1**: 2:30-4:00pm Community event and uniform sale

Tuesday 9/6: GR 1-8 1st Day of School (in uniform please)

Tuesday-Thursday 9/6-9/8: Kindergarten Slow Start Appointments - Mrs. Wasman will email kindergarten families about slow start appointments later this week

Wednesday 9/7:  1:00pm School Mass (Teachers), 5:30pm New Family Orientation on lower playground (families welcome)

Friday 9/9:  Kindergarten 1st Day of School

SJF SUMMER CAMP

It’s still not too late to join the fun at SJF’s Summer Camp! Here’s the schedule through the end of this summer:

Aug 8 - Aug 12        Star Wars

Aug 15 - Aug 19        Super Heroes

Aug 22 - Aug 26        Fun in the Sun

The final week of camp (8/29-9/1) is full with a waitlist.

CYO VOLLEYBALL

The CYO volleyball season starts soon! Registration is now OPEN! Click on https://cyocamphoward.org/content/16607/SJF-Volleyball to register. Please register as soon as possible! The registration fee will increase on August 15th and your daughter may not practice until registered. 

Practice days/times are still TBD, and can start the week of August 15. Practices are twice per week with 8 regular season games every Saturday, starting September 24th.There will also be a pre-season and post-season tournament. The Challenge Tournament will be Saturday, September 17th and the Spike Tournament will be November 14-19th. 

Uniforms- We order our jersey tops from Gear-Up sports. If you have one from previous seasons, they can be reused. Please let me know as soon as you can what number jersey your daughter will be re-using. If you need a new jersey- we will send out the ordering link at a later date. Black shorts and knee pads can be purchased through GearUp or separately.

UNIFORM REGULATION REMINDER

Our “Spirit Wear” ¼-zip pullover is up and ready for you to order HERE for the 2022-23 school year. Due to safety and discipline issues with students hiding objects in their pockets (toys, cell phones, food, etc), no hooded sweatshirts will be allowed as part of the uniform for the 2022-23 school year. Thanks for your understanding.

 

MANDATORY TRAINING FOR PARENT VOLUNTEERS

We appreciate our parent volunteers! If you plan to volunteer on campus this year (hot lunch, classroom helpers, room parents, coaches, field trip chaperones, etc.) “Social Media Safety” will be the required 2022-23 course for current parent volunteers working with minors.  You can access this course through the new Praesidium Academy website that we transitioned to last school year.  Instructions are attached.

New families who want to get started volunteering need a clear Background Check, to view the CASE (Creating a Safe Environment) training, and to sign the Standards of Conduct form. Mrs. Michele Wasman can help you get started with these requirements.

 

EXTENDED CARE SIGNUPS

Don’t forget to sign up for September 2022 Extended Care.  The signup calendar is attached to this SAM, and on your FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents.

FRED MEYER COMMUNITY REWARDS PROGRAM

St. John Fisher earned $240.85 from 71 households in the second quarter of this year.  It’s easy to link your own Fred Meyer card to SJF to earn money for our school community.  Instructions are attached to this SAM.
