Summer SAM #4 - 08-22-2023
A NOTE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
We are on the homestretch preparing for the return of our students on Tuesday, Sept. 5th! We look forward to seeing families on Thursday, August 31st from 2:30-4:00 pm at our Uniform Sale/Exchange (for all students) and Supply Drop Off (for students in grades 1-8. PreK and Kindergarten will bring their supplies to their Slow Start appointment.
Here’s one last reminder checklist of things to do before the first day of school:

WELCOME MRS. MELINDA MASON
We are very excited to introduce you to our new 4th - 8th Academic Support Coordinator, Mrs. Melinda Mason. Melinda comes to SJF with a wealth of experience teaching middle school Language Arts, Social Studies and Religion at Holy Trinity Catholic School, Lake Oswego Junior High and Rural Dell School in Molalla. She has her B.S. in Journalism/English from University of Oregon and her Masters of Arts in Teaching from Lewis and Clark College. Additionally, she is a professional real estate agent with Belrose Realty. Her references commended their ultimate confidence with her decisions, work ethic, thoughtfulness, organizational skills and commitment to working with all kids to help them achieve their fullest potential. Welcome Melinda!
UNIFORM SALE
Volunteers are needed for the uniform sale. Please contact Robin Levesque if you are available to help. It’s a great way to meet new people, say hi to old friends, and spend some time in the brand new preschool space!
Reminder: Uniforms are required for all students on the first day of school (Tues. 9/5).
EXTENDED CARE SIGNUPS
Parents, please be sure to sign up for your September 2023 Extended Care coverage. The Extended Care Registration Form and September 2023 signup calendar are attached to this SAM, and are also available on the FACTS Family Portal under Resource Documents.
VOLUNTEERING AT SJF
We appreciate our parent volunteers! If you will be volunteering on campus this year (CYO coaches, hot lunch, classroom helpers, room parents, field trip chaperones, etc.), you are required to complete the following before beginning any volunteer service.
New Volunteers (New Family at SJF or you have not previously volunteered at school):
The background check and policy acknowledgement form are completed online through Praesidium Academy, the training portal used in the Archdiocese for all parent volunteers. The CASE training schedule at SJF is below. A list of additional training sessions taking place throughout the diocese this fall is attached to this SAM.
Ongoing Volunteers (Returning families to SJF who will continue their service with minors):
You can access this training through your Praesidium Academy account.
Please contact Mrs. Wasman in the school office if you have any questions about volunteering at SJF.
C.A.S.E. TRAINING DATES AT SJF
St. John Fisher will host C.A.S.E. (Creating A Safe Environment) training sessions on the following dates: Wed, 9/13 at 5pm (just prior to Gr 6-8 Back to School Night), Wed, 9/20 at 5pm (just prior to Gr PreK-5 Back to School Night) and Fri, 9/22 at 8:30am
All new parent volunteers are required to attend this in-person training. Advance registration is not required.
