I grew up in Aloha, Oregon and attended Aloha High School, graduating in 2001. I then attended the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!), and received my Bachelor of Education in Educational Studies in 2005, and my Master of Education in Teaching & Learning in 2006. While at UO, I was active at St. Thomas More parish and the UO Newman Center, where I met my husband, Tyler - we married in 2007. We now share two daughters - Michaela (Age 12) and Shannon (Age 9), who attend Holy Trinity School.
I began my teaching career with the Hillsboro School District in 2006, and taught grades K, 2, 3, 5, and 6 in the district for 10 years. During this time, I also completed the reading endorsement program at the University of Portland. In 2016, after enrolling my oldest daughter in a Catholic school and seeing what a special place it was, I decided to take a big leap of faith in my teaching career, and joined the faculty at St. Clare School as the middle school language arts teacher. I then moved to Holy Trinity School, where I taught middle school language arts for several years. After my younger daughter was diagnosed with Dyslexia and Auditory Processing Disorder, I became Orton-Gillingham trained and joined Holy Trinity’s learning resource team, where I continue to work part-time, in addition to working at St. John Fisher. This past July, I also completed my special education endorsement through the Program for Inclusive Education at the University of Notre Dame.
In my free time, I am an avid reader (historical fiction is my favorite), and I love watching the Ducks play football, as well as camping with my family! We recently bought a travel trailer, and have enjoyed our adventures as we pursue our goal of visiting all of our nation’s national parks!
